The Langham Chicago – Enjoy Traditional Afternoon Tea in Chicago

The enchanting afternoon tea at The Langham Chicago will take your breath away. The blown glass hanging balls on the ceiling add to the poshness of the experience while still maintaining a modern feel. It’s a fantastic place to spend some quality time with a girlfriend on a blustery winter’s day.

Listen to the gentle sound of a harp while you nibble on delectable mini sandwiches. Our two favorite savory dishes had to be the lamb/jam spread on crunchy toast and the Middle Eastern-inspired cucumber sandwich. These dishes teased our palates while comforting our stomachs. For the first course, each person gets their own sandwich plate. The second course, however, is a shared feast of warm scones and bite-size desserts. On this particular afternoon, chocolate and rum raisin were the flavors du jour. Most of the dessert options focused their flavors on peppermint and gingerbread, playing on the theme of the recent holiday season, but the best was the forever classic flourless chocolate torte.

We ordered their signature tea, the Palm Court Blend. Its beautiful pink hue tasted like fairies dancing in a rose garden. Coming with a glass of champagne, this luxurious tea service is a bargain at $78 per person.

At The Langham, we felt like we were in London; the waiter told us that the clotted cream, tea, and china were all flown in from England. In fact, the traditional afternoon tea first debuted at The Langham, London in 1865. Wow! what a history.
