Afternoon Tea at The Allis

Afternoon Tea at the Allis in Soho House Chicago makes you feel like royalty. The Allis encompasses the entire first and part of the second floor of the elegant clubhouse, with its high ceiling and enormously glamorous chandeliers. At the Allis, everyone is treated like a member even though not all of its clientele are.

Immediately upon arrival, I was rendered breathless by the chic decor and afternoon sunlight delicately illuminating the space as its rays tastefully soaked into the rustic wood flooring. We were seated next to the large windows, giving us not only optimal picture lighting, but also a perfect view of the liveliness of the South Loop. Cool seating and small, low tables complete the experience by allowing for optimal comfort while still providing a unique experience.

The Afternoon Tea menu consists of a set variety of sandwiches and pastries. You get to choose amongst a selection of loose leaf teas that comes in your own little decorative tea pot. Be sure to take the tea bag out after a few minutes of steeping and ask for more hot water when you finish your first pot. Your tea bag still will have plenty of flavor for a second pot.

The Italian Green Almondine tea is an absolute must if you enjoy almond flavors. Its sweet aroma immediately permeated the air around me. It was amazing!

The most memorable pieces of our three-tier display were a refreshing cucumber sandwich, a zesty cranberry walnut loaf, and a delicate pistachio macaron. This array of food provided the perfect amount to get a variety of flavors without getting too consumed in one flavor alone.

Afternoon Tea at the Allis in Soho House Chicago is definite must! It gives you a taste of what it’s line to dine like royalty. Relax, sip tea, nibble, and soak in the regal ambiance.
